Documentary Event Photographer

I am Michaela

I’ve always been someone who likes being around people and paying attention to what’s happening around me. Events give me both.

I love walking into a room where I may not know anyone yet and, little by little, starting to recognize faces. I introduce myself, have conversations, offer to take the photo, and help people feel a little more comfortable when a camera comes their way. Somewhere in between, I’m moving through the room, watching how everything is coming together and getting to know the event as it unfolds.

That’s a big part of why I love this work. Every event has its own energy, its own people, and its own reason for bringing everyone together. I get to step into that for a while, be part of it, and photograph it from the inside.

I photograph events because they’re important. People gather for a reason. To celebrate something, support something, share something, or simply be together. Whatever brings everyone into the same place, I believe it deserves to be documented.

My philosophy

KNOW WHEN TO WATCH. KNOW WHEN TO STEP IN.

I don’t believe everything needs to be directed to make a great photograph. Sometimes the best thing I can do is give people space and let something happen naturally. Other times, a little direction is exactly what’s needed.

I’m happy to bring people together, find the right spot, fix what feels awkward, and help someone feel more confident in front of the camera. But I never want the photography to take over the event itself.

For me, it’s about knowing the difference. Create when it’s helpful. Observe when it isn’t. Let the event still feel like the event.

What i bring to the room

Prepared, but flexible.
Present, without taking over.
Easy with people.
Calm when plans change.

I’ll introduce myself, learn names, make conversation, and probably ask a few people if they’d like a photo together. Behind the scenes, I’m keeping track of the schedule, thinking ahead, and staying ready for whatever changes along the way. I’m there to be part of the room, not just photograph it from the outside.

Enough about me
